What is it??
Hello everyone its your friendly at home esthetician and today I am going to be talking about high frequency. If you do not already know what it is it is a machine that estheticians use during facials to help products seep deeper into the skin as well as boost circulation and a bunch of other stuff I will get into later.
Lets start at the beginning, high frequency uses glass bulbs that emits ultra violet light that you then rub (genlty!) on your skin. The light helps to kill acne causing bacteria, help with fine lines and wrinkles, help boost circulation in the skin and there for having brighter appearance, help products soak deeper into your pores, etc. The list could probably go on forever with all the amazing things it can do. But the best benefit is that it is safe to use every single day!
I personally have been using https://amzn.to/2WuEwm4 wand from amazon. (Any links that you click on in this blog or purchases you make from the links on this blog will give me a commission from the sale) The reason I love this wand is because 1. its not expensive at all. Its very affordable for someone who is new to it or would like to add a little extra to their skincare routine. 2. just after a few uses I can already see a difference in my skin and how bright it looks! 3. there is an attachment that you can use on your hair to help promote hair growth!! I know its amazing.
How to use
So lets get into how to actually use this thing. There are a couple of ways that are fine to use but I am going to tell you how I was trained to use this in a professional spa setting.
Wash your face with your favorite moisturizer.
If you would like you could use a VERY and I mean VERY gentle exfoliant if you know your skin can handle it.
Pat face completely dry.
Grab your high frequency wand and the bulb attachment you would like to use. Make sure you sanitize the bulb before and after use with an alcohol wipe to guarantee no cross contamination or spreading of bacteria.
Turn it to 1 or 2 for beginners. The higher the knob on the bottom is turned the stronger the frequency. If your new to using it I recommend starting slow to make sure you have no adverse reactions to it.
Put your finger on the long part of the bulb to ground the energy to go before putting it on your face. It is very important that once it is on your face you do not lift it off unless you place your finger back onto the bulb. Then place it on your face wherever you would like. I prefer to start on my cheeks but that is just a preference.
Then once the bulb is touching your skin remove your finger and start moving the bulb across your skin. I find the best method is little circles making sure you do not stay in the same area longer than a couple of minutes.
After you have finished your whole face place your finger back onto the machine, lift off face and turn the machine off.
Now is the perfect time you can put on your toner (be careful using AHA toners after because it can cause dryness on some peoples) and whatever other skincare products you would like. Just know that only the first 3 or 4 will soak into the skin so make sure those are the important ones so your not just wasting product.
Its as simple as that. You can use the machine every day, once a day and get facial worthy benefits at the comfort of your own home. After a few weeks of using is when you will really notice the full effects of this amazing machine.
Now I know I said I will tell you some other ways so here is another way I know you can use it but personally do not recommend. You can follow steps 1-3 the same but then add a little bit of oil to your face so that it glides just a little bit easier. You could also wrap around those cotton square bandages to help with this as well. The follow steps 4-9 the same. The reason I do not recommend having any product on your face during this is because it can shock you. Your putting electricity onto your face and if your skin is wet it will send little shocks on your face.
Down below I am going to have a list of all the different high frequency machines I recommend. I do make commission off of any sales that come from that link. If you have any more questions or want learn more you can follow my blog. I do post everyday as well as have extra little tips and tricks on my Pinterest page https://pin.it/51BiGF7
NuDerma Portable Handheld High Frequency Machine: 49.95 on amazon
This is the one I personally use. I love it for all the reasons I listed above as well as its a perfect price point for anyone who is new to high frequency and does not want to drop hundreds of dollars on a machine.
NuDerma Clinical Skin Therapy Wand: 119.95 on amazon
Now this wand is a little more expensive because it has more attachments as well as uses neon and argon light instead of the ultra violet light. This is the perfect machine for someone who intends to use it specifically for anti aging benefits. I comes with all the same attachments as the one linked above with the extra neck/jaw attachment.
I hope you guys enjoyed reading this and follow for more reviews and skincare advice!
