Hey guys I'm back again to show you how to make your own DIY body exfoliant with just 3 easy ingredients!
Before we get started lets talk about the benefits of body exfoliation
it helps take dead skin off and creates smooth healthy skin.
helps boost circulation leading to brighter looking skin.
exfoliation is one of the best ways to help treat scars.
it helps with razor bumps and ingrown hair.
if you have tattoos it helps them stay vibrant and smooth.
Now that we know all the AMAZING benefits of body exfoliation, let me show you how to make it!
First you are going to need:
White sugar or brown sugar depending on how rough you would like the exfoliation to be. Brown sugar is more harsh of a scrub that white sugar.
Olive oil, any brand of your choice.
Conditioner. I recommend grabbing a cheap non scented one for if you end up exfoliating lady bits.
A bowl to mix in.
A fork.
Grab the white sugar and pour as much as you would like into your bowl. The more you add the more exfoliant you will have, just keep that in mind when your making it.
Now your going to add as much olive oil as you would like. The more you add the less grainy the scrub will be. I prefer mine to be smooth consistency but still have grains.
Next you are going to grab your conditioner. I recommend a non-scented and cheap on for this. No need to waste your 50$ conditioner for a body scrub.
Now all you need to do is mix until you get to desired consistency. You might need to add more olive oil depending on the outcome of the first time. Don't worry about adding to much because you can always add more sugar.
How to use
Now that you have your DIY body exfoliant all ready, I will tell you the perfect way to use it. I like to use it before shaving to make sure I can get a clean shave. So what I like to do is sit in a warm shower for a few minutes to wet my skin and open up my pores. Next I grab the desired amount I would like to use for whatever area I am exfoliating and I rub it onto my skin. Make sure not to use too much pressure if you have sensitive skin because it can leave you with a raw feeling. Now repeat this step everywhere you would like to exfoliate.
Now all you have to do is rinse it off with water and since it is made out of sugar it will just dissolve right off your skin!! You will feel greasy due to the conditioner and olive oil sitting on your skin but that's okay, if your planning on shaving this is the perfect time. The oil and conditioner will help with razor bumps and skin irritation. I do still recommend using a shaving cream or something else.
Next you just have to wash your body like normal and then your done. You wont even have to use lotion after because your body will be already moisturized from the olive oil.
Benefits of Exfoliating
Now lets talk about the benefits of exfoliating a little more. I don't need to explain how it helps remove dead skin off the body, we all know that, but did you know it actually can help you stay looking younger longer? This is because when we exfoliate we reveal a new layer of skin and there for causing your skin to use collagen and elastin to "heal" it creating younger more vibrant skin. So exfoliating 2-3 times a week will not only keep you smooth but actually help you look younger!! It also helps your tattoos stay vibrant longer :)
The next benefit of exfoliation is how it helps get rid of scars. One of the only few ways you can treat scars is to exfoliate them. This helps the scar fade over time and eventually reveal fresh new skin. Now don't go scrubbing your skin away, that will cause more damage, to remove a scar takes time so you need to exfoliate 2-3 times a week, it should be gone in 4-5 months.
Last but not least is that it can help treat those stubborn ingrown hairs!! The way it treats it is by not allowing the hair follicles to get clogged by skin and allowing it to grow as normal. If you do end up getting ingrowns just grab some of your DIY sugar scrub and scrub that area for a good 30sec and wear loose none constricting clothing. The ingrown should be gone in no time. Once you get rid of the ingrown just keep exfoliating 2-3 times a week and bam you should never get an ingrown hair again!!!
